Satori

As the 2008 presidential election race begins to heat up many Conservatives find themselves lost in a sea of indecision. While the front runners for the GOP have proven competitive with the likes of Clinton and Obama, Giuliani and Romney's appeal to the Conservative voter is less than 360 degrees strong. Although all candidates have relatively strong fiscally conservative credentials, value voters are left in the dark. With both Romney and Giuliani's weak conviction on topics concerning gay marriage, abortion rights, and the war on terror, many Conservatives find themselves still searching for the candidate who truly represents their beliefs.
Recently while reading through the news on NPR i came across an article concerning Mike Huckabee. Believing that he was a relative no name I read the article out of curiosity. At first i assumed this was just another canidate trying to shave off a few votes from the front runners but quite to the contrary. The article was well written and convinced me that looking further into the Huckabee campaign would be a good idea. I went on you tube to watch him in action only to experience a political satori unlike any conservative awakening i have ever had. "He's gold, pure gold, this guy is the future of the party" i said to myself. Mike Huckabee, two term ex governor of Arkansas, once made famous for losing 110 pounds after being diagnosed with type II diabetes, is the man for the job. First look at his record; you cant find another candidate who's track record correlates more strongly to Classical Conservative values than Huckabee. Hes strong on gay marriage, hes strong on the War on Terror, and hes strong on abortion. What really got me, however, was his position on taxation.
Taxation stands at the very heart of not only our countries formation but of its continuance as a beacon of democracy and free market advocacy. The IRS and federal income tax are both highly unfair and highly ineffectual. The Internal Revenue Service, yet another government program proven to be as useless as it is pointless, has now been challenged by Mike Huckabee. Huckabee, a firm supporter of the Fair Tax, has vowed to end all federal income and payroll taxes, personal federal, corporate federal, gift, estate, capital gains, alternative minimum, Social Security, Medicare, and self-employment tax thus shutting the IRS down while replacing the income tax with a consumption tax. Those below the poverty line will not be taxed at all, giving them a hand up out of poverty, while those above the poverty line will be encouraged to buy used, thus producing less waste. There are so many benefits to this form of taxation it would be difficult to voice all of them here.
How do these proposed changes to taxation in the United States correlate to Classical Conservative values? Any reduction in Government interference and intrusiveness into American lives is certainly Classically Conservative, but thats not all, it must also be considered, that the proposed consumption tax will increase fiscal freedom and encourage more actively participatory consumer behavior thus enhancing the market. The most important connection between Huckabees consumer tax and Classical Conservative values though, is by far, the reduction of power incurred by the Government as a result of the tax cut. With less money to spend the government has less spending power thus shrinking the bureaucracy and focusing governments efforts to a smaller sphere of involvement.
Mike Huckabee is undoubtedly the Candidate with the most potential to influence
Government in a way most compatible with Classically Conservative values. If share these values your vote could make a difference. I encourage you all to research this option as well as Huckabees Presidential bid. Huckabee is the real conservative option.

Huckabee supporters...a plea from a fellow conservative here. I think most of you understand just how liberal McCain's main achievements in the Senate have been, linking up with extreme liberals like Feingold of California, Kennedy of Massachusetts, working closely with Hillary Clinton, etc. If McCain wins, all conservatives lose, and in a big way likely to last for years. The ONLY way we can stop McCain is to have you guys join us in supporting Mitt Romney on Super Tuesday. Please consider this. I believe it is critically important. Don't forget the McCain crafted the bill that had it passed would have given all illegals a chance to stay in the U.S. the rest of their lives with only a minor fine to pay. Don't forget that McCain-Feingold was a direct restriction of the First Amendment guarantee of free speech. Let's unite for conservatism!

McCain, Huckabee Worst Picks for Evangelicals

MEDIA ADVISORY, Feb. 4 /Christian Newswire/ -- The Reverend Rob Schenck (pronounced SHANK), in his capacity as a private citizen, today released this statement regarding tomorrow's primary votes:

"I have spent the last 33 years as an active evangelical Christian. I am an ordained evangelical minister. I graduated from an evangelical Bible college and an evangelical seminary. I serve on the board of America's oldest association of evangelical church leaders, and I head one of the most active evangelical ministries in Washington, DC.

"I have thought long and hard about the upcoming elections. I have prayed earnestly about them, and I have met many of the candidates and their top campaign people and I have studied their platforms and policy proposals.

"After careful and prayerful consideration, I have concluded that an evangelical vote for Mike Huckabee is a vote for John McCain, and a vote for John McCain will be a disaster for this country.

"Let me explain. It's clear to me and many others that Mike Huckabee is not broadening his appeal enough to win the primary. Therefore, his only contribution is to siphon off votes, giving McCain a clear path to victory. It's very possible Huckabee is being positioned to be John McCain's pick for vice president. In order to win, McCain needs Mike Huckabee and the evangelical votes he brings with him. The specter of a McCain-Huckabee ticket is bad for evangelicals.

"McCain is proud of his signature accomplishment, the McCain-Feingold law co-authored with liberal Democrat senator Russ Feingold. McCain-Feingold severely limits the First Amendment rights of evangelicals. McCain will use this law as the litmus test for his Supreme Court nominees. If a judge is likely to be against McCain's unconstitutional law, McCain will not nominate him. Make no mistake about it, constitutional originalist judges will be against McCain-Feingold. These same judges will also be pro-life, for traditional marriage and for the public acknowledgment of God.

"Only liberal judges will support McCain-Feingold. They will also be pro-abortion, anti-traditional marriage and against the public acknowledgement of God. So, with a McCain-Huckabee administration, or with a McCain-anyone administration, we get the wrong judges. Most distressing, we get the wrong justices on the U.S. Supreme Court."Evangelicals must consider both the stakes and the realities in this election. Mike Huckabee's continuation only helps John McCain. The consequences are just too great to take this risk. A McCain victory will hurt this country because of the long-term damage of the wrong judges and justices. Worse, McCain's court legacy will continue to hurt our children and our grandchildren, perhaps even our great grandchildren.

"Evangelicals must choose wisely from among candidates other than Mike Huckabee and John McCain as they vote tomorrow, February 5.

"For identification purposes only, the Reverend Rob Schenck (pronounced SHANK) is president of Faith and Action in the Nation's Capital, chairman of the Committee on Church and Society for the Evangelical Church Alliance and co-founder of the annual National Memorial for the Pre-born and their Mothers and Fathers, the only pro-life worship service held inside the U.S. Capitol complex in Washington, DC.

It’s time to Rally to Romney so we can block McCain!

Dear Mike Huckabee Blogger,

Brett Passmore and Tommy Brents, formerly of HucksArmy, have begun an effort to bring together values voters accross America. Please take a moment to review the general welcome message from the main page of our site:

*******************************************************************************************

Welcome to the F3 coalition. We’re an organization founded by true conservatives. We support candidates, legislation and education that promote our three principal values.

We believe that our mission is to inspire, educate, motivate and empower individuals to become values-voters so that they can become active in the political process.

Our vision is to have an ever increasing group of values voters who are active in promoting conservative principles in local, state, and federal governments (specifically the “f3″ values).

The F3 values mentioned above are faith, family and freedom.

* Faith - We believe faith is essential to conservatism. Only through a close personal relationship with Jesus Christ can true compassion and conservative values be understood.

* Family - We believe that the traditional family is the only means by which to enact change in a corrupt society and to bring meaningful structure to a diseased culture.

* Freedom - We believe that every living person is the legitimate creation of God and that all persons should have the freedom to worship and live without the burden of an oppressive national or world government.

If you believe in this cause and the values we espouse, then we invite you to join our fight. Hundreds of conservatives just like you have already joined our ranks and with your help we can help change the direction of American politics.

********************************************************************************************

We have already taken the Liberty of adding your blog to our blogroll at f3coalition.org, and I invite you to promote our organization on your blog using one of the banners available on our promotion page here: http://www.f3coalition.org/promote/
